Next, the Big Pine Key Adventure Tour Bus took us  to Road Atlanta, in Braselton, GA., just northeast of Atlanta, on its march to the sea.

Road Atlanta is steeped in history and is the home to the Petit Le Mans.  I've been to many races here as a spectator and always wanted to drive the track.  I joined NASA (no, no, not the space agency), the National Auto Sport Association , because they were having an event here, and, obviously, their membership requirements and standards were pretty low because, by golly, they admitted me.  NASA is an active motor sports organization sponsoring events throughout the country.

Road Atlanta!  What a fantastic track!  There are lots of elevation changes and that makes it both challenging and fun.

My biggest concern with Road Atlanta was that in many places there is little room for runoff.  If you screw up, it's concrete and armco everywhere and neither of those mix very well with fiberglass, or formed metal, for that matter.  But, hey, that's probably the attraction...kinda like a moth to a flame.

Here are some pictures of the Big Pine Key taxi on track:

Here are a couple of interesting pictures I took of things in the paddock.

Look at this guy's toys!  The motor home rivals NASCAR driver's coaches, and the trailer has some serious artillery....A Viper race car, a Top Fuel dragster, a Harley and a golf cart for touring the paddock.  Wow!

How about this wheel chock in the picture below!  Tell me racers aren't ingenious...and cheap!
